How to Avoid Common Mistakes with Brand Design
96: How to Avoid Common Mistakes with Brand Design
I see a lot of mistakes when it comes to brand design. These are mistakes that can happen when you’re DIY-ing your own brand for the first time, or rebranding.
I talk through these super common mistakes so you can avoid them, and learn what to do instead.
In this episode, I share...
The common mistakes I see
Why you should always keep things simple
Best practices in brand design
There is nothing wrong with DIY-ing your brand, especially in the beginning. But you want to make sure you’re always using best practices.
The common mistakes I see are:
Using fonts that people can’t read
Readability is always important to consider!
Copying or stealing brands and brand elements
Don’t get so obsessed with a brand that you copy it, that isn’t serving you.
Using Canva logos exactly as they are
You should switch things up, at least a little bit.
Investing in a lot of things to be printed
Don’t order too many things right away, you may waste money on things you don’t need.
Being way too literal with your logo
If you’re a photographer you don’t need a camera in your logo. The best brands are simple and allow you to change and grow as needed.
Not keeping things simple
Everything you do should have meaning behind it. There is no need to add extra elements just to add elements.
Choosing a color palette you can’t execute with
You need your colors to work together so you can create different things as needed.
I hope this helps you avoid these common mistakes. Always remember, simple is best and you don’t need to look at what others are doing too much.
