How to Price Your Services with Bethania Bacigalupe

I’m chatting with Bethania Baciagalupe today, who is also known as The Pricing Nerd - a pricing strategist for coaches, creatives, and consultants.

Bethania has over 10 years experience working with businesses from soloprenuers to Fortune 100 companies on their business strategy, business models, and pricing. She’s been featured in the Boston Globe and as a TEDx speaker.

Bethania combines an analytical background (she studied Mathematics at Harvard) with current research in psychology and economics to get her clients the perfect prices for their businesses.

We talk about the differences in value based pricing, market based pricing, and pricing using an hourly or daily rate. She gives her perspectives on which works best and how you should decide what to use.

We also talk about the mindset problems with pricing and how Bethania helps her clients overcome these issues and raise their prices when the time is right.

She says it may be time to raise your prices when:

  • You’re not getting any objections

  • You’re fully booked out

  • You’re feeling resentful of the work you’re doing with respect to how much you’re making

  • Your clients are telling you you’re charging too little

When you can raise your prices you give yourself the flexibility to make choices about the types of clients and types of work you accept.

Pricing your services can be difficult, but Bethania provides us with some great direction and things to consider to take the mystery out of this important part of your business.
