What to Look for in a Designer
Today I’m talking about how to find the right designer for you and your business.
There are so many designers out there, but there is a big difference in what makes a good designer and what makes a good designer specifically for you.
Here are a few things to consider:
1. Make sure that you like their style in their portfolio
Check out their previous work and make sure that you really like what they have done.
2. Make sure they walk the walk
You shouldn’t hire someone who tells you the importance of a good website but doesn’t have a good website themselves.
3. Make sure they have testimonials
Find testimonials that speak to the results that a designer has delivered.
4. Make sure you like how they communicate
Ask them about their process to see if your work styles match.
5. Ask for their honest opinion
A bad designer will follow your feedback for everything. A good designer is an expert and will be able to provide advice to set you up for success.
6. Make sure that they understand marketing
Marketing and design go hand in hand. Design is one pillar under the giant umbrella of marketing so make sure your designer understands your business and your end goals.
At the end of the day, trust your gut. It is just like dating - when you know, you know! Do your research, check off everything I outlined here, but make sure it feels right.
The creative process may not always be easy, but it is so worth it to work with the right designer and have something incredible as a final product.
