Planning to Take Vacation Time

113: Planning to Take Vacation Time

Today I’m talking about preparing to take time away from your business.

Taking a vacation as a business owner can be stressful. But you need to live your life!

In this episode, I share...

  • Why taking vacation time is so important

  • Tips to prepare to take time off

  • Ways to disconnect as much or as little as you’d like

The specific tips I have as you prepare for a vacation are:

  • Plan ahead

Take the time you need to think of everything you need to do.

  • Give yourself permission to not prioritize work as the number 1 thing

Remember that you are the boss so you get to make the decisions in your business and life.

  • Communicate with clients ASAP

Tell clients when you’ll be out of the office and remind them often so they feel taken care of.

  • If you have a team or assistant, trust them to be in charge

Your people will probably pleasantly surprise you!

  • Use your autoresponder and use it wisely

Make sure people are aware of what is going on to manage expectations.

  • Determine your boundaries for vacation and write them down

Refer back to this list to ensure you stick to your boundaries and enjoy your vacation in the way that you want.

  • Plan out the return of your work before you leave

Take a little time to plan out what you will do when you return to work so you can refocus without all the stress.

I hope these tips help you plan for your next vacation. Take a trip, enjoy your trip. You deserve to live your life!
