Today I’m talking about how to give feedback to your designer. You want to give helpful feedback so you have the best experience and design possible.

Here are my best tips to give feedback to your designer:

• Make sure you are being specific.

Tell them what you like and what you don’t like. The more specific you can be, the better.

• Be honest. 

You need to communicate to get what you want. You can be honest and be kind!

• Take time to process the design before giving feedback.

Don’t respond immediately, whether it is positive or negative. Take a step back and take a little time to really see how you feel before responding.

• Be intentional.

Be intentional with your responses, feedback, communication, and strategy. Don’t go for something just because it is pretty. Be sure to ask ‘why.’

• Know that you don’t have to come to your designer with ideas. 

Definitely share your vision, but you don’t need to give creative direction or instructions to your designer.

The most important thing I want you to take away from this, is that it is so important not to get discouraged if your design isn’t right the first round, or the second round, or the third round. Sometimes a designer hits the nail on the head right away. Sometimes it is a longer process and that’s ok! 

What is important is to trust the creative process and continue to work together to create something magical.
