I am chatting today with Megan Auman about marketing your business as a creative artist.

Megan is a jewelry designer, metalsmith, educator and entrepreneur with over a decade of experience in selling art through a variety of channels.

Currently, Megan is running her eponymous jewelry line and the online community Artists & Profit Makers for fellow creatives who sell high-end products.

A best-selling CreativeLive instructor, her designs have been featured in Elle Decor, Better Homes & Gardens, Cooking Light and on top-rated blogs like Design*Sponge.

Megan gives her advice to other makers setting up a business:

• Start an email marketing list

• Make the mental shift that marketing is a creative act

She walks us through her daily routine and shares how she makes time for all of the business work and has time to create.

Megan also warns other product-based business owners about potential mistakes such as not promoting themselves enough. She says makers often feel like they don’t want to bother people. But people who are subscribed to your email list or following you on social media DO want to hear from you!

I love hearing Megan’s perspective on running her business as an extension of her creativity.

Remember, you are not going to make a difference and put more art into the world unless you actually can sell. It is all a beautiful mix of marketing, selling, and creating.
