143: Dos and Don’ts of Working with a Designer

If you’ve never worked with a designer before it can feel a little overwhelming. So today I’m talking through some dos and don’ts when working with a designer.

In this episode, I share…

• How involved you should be in the process

• Ways to communicate and give feedback

• Why you should trust the process

Before work begins, do some research and figure out your vision. You need to have some direction for your designer to follow.

Also be sure to ask questions and communicate with your designer. Designers are very open to feedback, it is part of the process and is expected.

You should also be open to trying new things. For example, I prefer to use Loom to communicate and receive feedback. Some people are resistant to using Loom at first, but they usually see how valuable it is once they try it.

A few things you shouldn’t do when working with a designer includes rushing the process and giving unspecific feedback.

Of course you should never be rude and don’t go “missing in action” on your designer.
