What to Know Before Creating Your Course with Ariel Schiffer

Today I’m joined by Ariel Schiffer, founder & CEO of Dreampro, a boutique course design agency that offers DIY solutions and done-for-you services for entrepreneurs and small businesses that are looking to create or revamp their courses.

Ariel has been creating courses for nearly a decade for Fortune 50 Companies, non-profit organizations, private companies, keynote speakers, and entrepreneurs. Her mission is to "take out the digital trash" and improve the quality of learning in the online business industry.

Ariel shares that the basic premise of a course is usually to do any of these 3 things (and sometimes a combination of a few):

  • Change your mindset

  • Help you change your behavior

  • Inspire you

Ariel says courses are great for most business owners, but you need to know that they are a lot of work. She also wants people to realize that they are not a “quick fix” and will pay off in the long run.

She says the best time to create a course is when you really know your audience and what they need.

Ariel also walks us through the common mistakes she sees in course creation from pre-selling your course to adding too much content.

Ariel recommends when you’re creating your course that you live launch it. This helps in many different ways, and it also helps move you to a place where you can sell it evergreen in the future.

If you’re interested in creating your own course, Ariel says the first step is to get really clear on what your idea is. The next step is to braindump everything you’d like to include. Next you’ll outline your curriculum to get an overall plan in place. Then you can move on to developing your course.

Is creating a course the next right move for you? I hope this conversation has cleared that up for you!
